What is MyAS?

MyAS is designed to help people with axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA) understand their condition, how to manage it, and where to access support.

What is axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA)?

axSpA is a type of inflammatory arthritis that affects the spine and other joints. Inflammatory arthritis, like axSpA is an autoimmune disease. This is different to other types of musculoskeletal conditions, like osteoarthritis or spondylosis that are often caused by bone wearing down over time.

axSpA describes both ankylosing spondylitis (AS) and non-radiographic axial spondyloarthritis (nr-axSpA).

MyAS uses axSpA to refer to both conditions. Information resources specific to AS or nr-axSpA will use these terms.
